The location was great, situated in a small village that served as an excellent starting point to explore the nearby islands - a real treat for any marine enthusiast like me. The room, though modern and bright, came with an unexpected price tag for the newer rooms. Despite this, I appreciated the thoughtful welcome card and fruits in the room, a nice touch that showed the hotel's attention to detail. However, the staff's handling of our boat ticket to the Togean Islands left much to be desired. A complete mess-up that required private taxi rides and additional costs, it was kind Indonesian fellow travelers who came to our rescue and helped sort things out. On the upside, the hotel did offer a good breakfast with many choices, making mornings delightful. the air-conditioned room was comfortable, but it was the friendly staff and the warm atmosphere of the hotel that truly shone through. In conclusion, Lawaka Hotel may not be perfect, but its charm lies in its simplicity and the genuine hospitality of its team. A cozy retreat for travelers seeking a two-star stay in Ampana, Sulawesi, with potential to be a hidden gem with a bit more attention to detail and guest services.
